Today I voted and it felt so good. No, it wasn't for anything big like who's the next president for USA or the next prime-minister of the U.K. . It was just selecting presidents for clubs and socities for our uni campus. I can see why people fight for their voices, for freedom of speech. It feels so wonderful to have a say in something and I do love ticking boxes, it makes me feel like I did something special. (Just to clarify I didn't do anything special all I did was vote) But still it's something very special I think. Why did I want to share this?
It just made me wonder what is it about Voting that brings all this hype. The Arab Spring lately is about getting a vote and democracy and why people are going forward in protests even though blood-shed is the huge obstacle that lies ahead. Not having an ability to vote is kind of like not being able to talk, like someone has pressed the mute button, you can't say what you want, what you need, your problems. So, yes voting is something very special.
